Topic and Aim
The workshop will address the knowledge embedded in water heritage elements, such as cisterns, aqueducts, fountains, and waterfront piers, in relation to cities’ historical water management practices and climate change adaptation processes. Building on the workshops organised by the HEWACC UNESCO Chair in November 2024 and May 2025, the event will examine the relationship between water heritage, climate adaptation, and cities through a comparative perspective across the Mediterranean.
The workshop aims to promote interdisciplinary and international knowledge exchange among institutions and researchers working in the fields of water, cultural heritage, and climate change; to compare water heritage sites and related practices in different cities; and to explore opportunities for inter-institutional cooperation.
Following the workshop, a report will be prepared and shared with the participants.
